ANAHEIM, CA (JANUARY 25, 2024) – Lynx Studio Technology (NAMM Booth 15504) has debuted the Hilo 2 at the 2024 NAMM Show. The Hilo 2 is the next-generation update to the company’s award-winning, independently-coupled 2-in, 6-out, AD/DA audio converter/interface.

“When we released the original Hilo in 2012, it made a big impact on the world of mixing, mastering, location sound, and many other disciplines within professional audio,” says Lynx co-owner and Chief Hardware Engineer Bob Bauman. “It became an immediate game-changer regarding the expectation of true transparency during the analog to digital conversion process.”

Co-owner and Chief Software Engineer David Hoatson adds, “Hilo 2 offers significant improvements in both the audio performance and functionality of the original Hilo. Now more than ever, the ultimate in world-class audio conversion will be appreciated by the community of audio engineers, recordists, and music producers.”

Hilo 2 offers a series of improvements on the original Hilo model that include even more transparent performance for the line inputs and line outputs via lower distortion and noise. Its sample clock has been upgraded to SynchroLock 2, which offers faster locking and better tracking of external clocks and 7ppm absolute accuracy. The Hilo 2 also offers an upgraded in-plane switching LCD, with a capacitive touch panel that provides a significant increase in brightness, uniform off-axis viewing, and improved touch responsiveness. Hilo 2 also provides an upgrade path to high sample rates above 192kHz and DSD on input and output, and offers selectable linear and minimum phase filters on its line I/O. Hilo 2 is expected to be available at Lynx dealers in the second quarter of 2024.
