Lynx Aurora(n) Audio Converter/Interface Expands Dolby Atmos® and EQ Capabilities Via Free Firmware Update

April 13, 2026

Lynx Studio Technology has announced that their flagship Aurora(n) audio converter/interface now has expanded features, workflow tools, and compatibility for use in Dolby Atmos® immersive mixing. The additional Atmos®-focused features are available to all Aurora(n) users via a free firmware update.

For non-Atmos® customers, the filtering capabilities of this upgrade can be used as a sophisticated EQ that allows precise adjustments to frequency curves for monitors as well as headphones.

“With the powerful features added in the latest firmware version, Aurora(n) offers capabilities that could cost an additional $10k or more via standalone systems,” says Lynx co-owner and Chief Hardware Engineer Bob Bauman.

“As always, Lynx is proud to offer audio products that continually evolve and improve, rather than become obsolete with the introduction of new technologies,” added Co-owner and Chief Software Engineer David Hoatson.

The new firmware upgrade is accompanied by an update to Lynx’s NControl Mixing software.

With this April 2026 update, the Atmos® features of Aurora(n) include:

• New NControl — Version 1.0.10.11 (Mac/Windows) allows Aurora(n) users to save and recall Atmos® scenes with normal NControl scenes

• Setting the Global attenuation (pre-DSP) for all channels. Users can manually set this value if there are any positive gains on any channel’s filter parameters to prevent clipping or use the new Auto function to automatically set this value based on analysis of filter gains

• Users can select between three different Q-Types: Constant Q, Proportional Q, and the Lynx V1 Q

• New Optimize bass management function sets the levels of the low-pass filtered data sent from the satellite channels to avoid clipping when the data is summed on the subwoofer channel.

• Finally, the update also adds a new log graph display below the filter controls. It shows the frequency response curve for the selected channel based on the filters and bass management currently selected.

These new features add power and flexibility to the existing Atmos®-compatible firmware in the previous firmware, which includes:

• Support for speaker configurations up to 9.1.6

• 320 total room correction filters

• Up to 16 filters per channel (including parametric, low-pass, high-pass, and shelving)

• Channel level and delay compensation

• Comprehensive bass management with LFE channel and satellite LPF summing

• 64-bit floating-point accuracy

• Perfect integration between Aurora(n) and Sonarworks sound calibration software as well as Room EQ Wizard (REW)

• Direct import of speaker calibration parameters into Aurora(n) with no manual entry required

• Seamless integration into Lynx NControl software

• Provides extremely flexible equalization for non-Atmos applications
