Lynx Studio Technology is proud to announce the availability of the Lynx CoreAudio Driver Build 54 for OS X. The driver may be downloaded from Lynx_OSX_54.zip.

Installation Notes

  1. If you installed a previous version of this driver, please uninstall it first. To uninstall the driver, please download the Lynx OS X Driver Uninstaller application and run it. Once you have uninstalled the previous driver, please be sure to restart your computer before installing the newer version.
  2. Double-click on the ZIP file to decompress the OS X driver package.
  3. Double-click on the Lynx_OSX.pkg file to start the driver installation process.
  4. Simply follow the instructions presented. You will be prompted for your administrator password and you must enter the password to install the driver.

Starting with OS X 10.7, the Preferences folder is now marked as Read-Only by default. This prevents Lynx Mixer from saving the last known scene so that upon restarting the computer it can be restored. To fix this, you must manually change /Library/Preferences to allow Read-Write to everyone.

Revision History

Version 1.0 Build 54   August 1, 2012

  1. Added full support for OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion).  Installer is now digitally signed (which is required by OS X 10.8).
  2. Installer can now change from one channel mode to another (16/24/32) without rebooting the computer.  Please note that you may need to uninstall the previous driver using the Lynx OS X Driver Uninstaller (see link above) before installing this driver to allow the channel mode change without reboot feature to work properly.
  3. Added support for 24-channel mode.
  4. Lynx Mixer now supports 16/24/32-channel mode and shows all controls for each mode.  The channel mode currently selected is shown in About Lynx Mixer.
  5. Audio/MIDI Setup can now control the output volumes, output mutes, input mutes and feed-through mutes.  This allows the user to change these controls without launching Lynx Mixer (and also allows applications other than Lynx Mixer to change these controls).
  6. Lynx Mixer now saves/restores all 32-channels upon exiting Lynx Mixer which allows channels 17-32 to remember the input routing through a reboot.
  7. Increased the number of active devices to match the maximum number of devices available (except for 4X rates where it maxes out at 8 devices / 16 channels).  Previously it was set to 8; 8 and 4.

Hi David,

Is this version compatible with AES16 PCI?

My 2 AES16 works in Protools 9, but when I try to open Lynx MIXER, it doesn't show any card or windows. it just start. I can't change any settings, but it seems it keep my previous one (build 53)

But I see the 2 cards in Audio setup of Mac OSX

It was workind with Driver Build 53

Thanks,

François

Since only the AES16e (as well as -SRC and -50) can be used directly with a Mac Pro or Magma ExpressBox, testing for the LynxTWO/L22/AES16 is no longer being done.  It is possible that Lynx Mixer would have an issue with the LynxTWO/L22/AES16 and the driver would still function properly.

Also, make sure you have Uninstalled the older driver so the old Lynx Mixer isn't still being used as that would certainly cause an issue.

Ok, I Use an Hackintosh, with  PCI port, and everything was find with the last build.

I uninstall the previous driver as I should before installing the new one.

I just go back to the previous driver,

Thanks

That is probably best for now.  There were no significant changes for Build 54 if you are staying on OS X 10.7 and PCI.  I just tested an AES16 (PCI) with Build 54 and the Mixer came up, but with the wrong outputs page (it came up with the AES16e outputs page).  That will be corrected for the next version of the driver.  For what it is worth, I'm testing with an old Magma expansion chassis.

Hi,
for this post will add her ..
using Lynx L22 (with PCI port) on a Hackintosh P8Z68 DELUXE/GEN3 ..
Tested Driver Build 54 for 10.6.5, 10.6.8 and 10.8 OS
No mixer interface. Installation carried out with the removal of 53 versions of the driver, using Uninstall Lynx Driver for OS X.
Also returned 53 version of the driver.

I will be grateful, as well as other users of the solution to this problem.

best regards,

Oleg

p.s. I really like the work of your company to work with sound.
You create a great product, it's a real Hi-End. In Russia, many people use and appreciate your products. Using Lynx L22 for many years. I plan to buy Aurora 8 in the next year to be used in conjunction with my MacPro.

I also have the same issues with the b54 driver on a Hackintosh with an L22 & an AES16e card. The mixer used to work and show both cards with b53. With b54 installed only the AES16e control panel shows up briefly and then the mixer software crashes.

Running 64bit, 10.7.4 .

The cards do still work however using the "Audio MIDI Setup" I am able to see and change most of the basic card functionality with both cards. However I would still prefer to have the Lynx Mixer available.

Looking forward to a fix with the b55 driver.

Cheers,

Matt
