Topic: Lynx L22 on Asus P8Z77-M - Help needed Posted: June/02/2012 at 11:55pm |
|
Hi, I decided to update my system a couple of weeks ago.
The L22 run nicely on an old Pentium equipped P4 Asus P4S800 - MX SE -based system but I lacked computing power so I have opted for a new I7-set up.
Looking at these foras and since a friend experienced problems with his L22 on a Gigabyte Z68 I stayed clear of Gigabyte(even though they would have been favorites due to their use of thicker copper on their PCBs). I opted for an Intel DH67GD mobo instead.
System was: Intel I7 2600K Intel DH67GD Lynx L22 Windows 7 64bit Lynx ASIO, 2.0 Build 19c
Everything installed in a Zalman TNN300 chassie.
When I cranked the systems after som hours fiddling with the heatpipes(I run a completely silent system) the L22 was recognised by BIOS, Windows and all its drivers but when I started pushing data on it there was no sound. Using the "Lynx demo" resulted in the same, complete silence.
A little bit upset I went to my local PC-parts store and exchanged the mobo to a Asus P8Z77-M.
System was: Intel I7 2600K
Intel DH67GD
Lynx L22
Windows 7 64bit
Lynx ASIO, 2.0 Build 19c
Changing the mobo didnt fix anything. The system acts in exactly the same way.
As a last effort I uninstalled the lynx driver and had the system re-identify the board. Through WIN7 i was sent to the lynx website but got an older driver called 18C
System is:
Intel I7 2600K
Intel DH67GD
Lynx L22
Windows 7 64bit
Lynx ASIO, 2.0 Build 18C
Well now the systems runs but not in ASIO. I use Jriver and when using the lynx ASIO driver the systems restarts until its had enough and stops. If I switch to using "direct sound" it works and the Lynx board produces sound. But in "direct sound" I cant handle the files I want to.
Any idea of how I can get the ASIO-driver running on my system?
Thanks, Per

Per,
All your systems are the same in the post! :-)
I recommend sticking with Build 19c as it will give you the best performance with the new chipsets under WDM.
When running in DirectSound, do you see any dropouts indicated in Lynx Mixer?

Sorry, thats not correct. I changed the mobo so the two last systems should be:
Intel I7 2600K
Asus P8Z77-M
Lynx L22
Windows 7 64bit The only thing that differ between them is the Lynx Driver.

I'll try 19c again and keep you posted if I can get it working.
I understand that you are working on fixing your ASIO-driver. Do you believe that the "Gigabyte"-fix also will correct my problems?
I saw in a different post that you are looking for BETA-testers. I would gladly support you with some info on how the BETA works in my set up.
Thanks! //Per
P.S. If the SIW is intresting for you just give me an indiaction where to send it.

Now Ive tested 19C, It gave a significant amount of dropouts. The drop out counter went crazy and counted over 10000 in no time at all.
So 19C is not the solution for my system.

This is not an issue with the driver, it is most likely an issue with a chip on the motherboard. There is the potential that this is the same as the GigaByte issue, but there is no way to know for sure without specific testing.
Are you saying that 18c is playing back properly and 19c is not?

Thanks for your respons David.
You might be right. I've been in contact with both Intel and Asus and they dont recognize this problem with other board vendors. They are pointing your way.
Regarding 18/19C: I'm experincing a lot worse drop out problems with 19C compared to 18C. With 19C your drop out counter is shooting through the roof and I can barely hear its music comming through the speakers while with 18C theres the occasional drop out that your counter does not register.

Last week i made a new attempt and solved the problem.
After a complete rebuild and update of all bios/FW/drivers I now have a system that runs well with latest Lynx drivers also in ASIO.
