Lynx Studio Technology is proud to announce the availability of the Lynx Aurora Firmware Update for both Windows and Macintosh OS X.

Windows Updater

Macintosh OS X Updater

Build 2012.04.13   April 13, 2012

  • Add support for updating the LT-USB firmware.
  • Enabled high-speed UART mode for communicating with the LT-USB at faster speeds.  Please see note below.
  • This revision includes:
    Aurora 8: 27
    Aurora 16: 27
    LT-HD: 7
    LT-MADI: 6
    LT-USB: 8
LT-USB Firmware Version 8 Revision History
  • LT-USB now changes the USB PID (product identification) based on the the specific device it is installed in.  This means the Aurora 8, Aurora 16 and Hilo now show as independent devices instead of just "LT-USB".
  • LT-USB enabled high-speed UART mode for communicating with the Aurora at faster speeds.  Please Note: This requires Build 27 of Aurora firmware to function.  You must upgrade the Aurora to Build 27 before upgrading the LT-USB firmware to revision 8.
  • LT-USB now includes serial number as part of the device identification block.  This allows multiple LT-USB devices to be connected to a single computer.  Please Note: This currently allows OS X to aggregate multiple LT-USB devices together, however the Windows driver does not support aggregating devices for the ASIO driver.
  • LT-USB now properly shows the power requirements, which allows the Apple iPad (and similar devices) to stream audio directly without a computer connection.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are using the LT-USB to update the firmware on your Aurora using Windows, you MUST first install the Build 1.55 LT-USB driver before flashing the firmware on your LT-USB.

David,

Does this Update fix the bug described in this thread?

http://www.lynxstudio.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=4379&title=sample-rate-not-saved

Do you guys have a page with release notes or something that lists what this update does other than what was in the thread about the update?

Thanks
Brian

Any suggestions?

That's interesting... I just posted a thread on this very same error message lastnight.  The thread is here

If the AES16e is having trouble communicating with the Aurora, you can sometimes get this error.  The best way to solve this is to manually set the Aurora to SYNC SOURCE: INT; SAMPLE RATE: 192.

What MIDI interface are you using?  Some MIDI interfaces cannot pass larger SysEx packets properly, and that will prevent them from working for ARC or AuroraUpdate.

Hello, I am having some trouble updating the firmware and wanted to see if anyone could gime me a hand around here,

I am trying to update the firmware via MIDI of my two Aurora 16's.
I am working with OS X 10.7.3 and Pro Tools 10.2
My Midi interface is the MOTU Micro Lite (5 ins, 5 outs) and it's in perfect shape.
I am trying to update them one at a time because i can access only to one port of the midi interface, the one on the front.

When i run the updater, the Aurora is recognized and connected and says this.

Serial number:2608182374

Manufacture date: May 0, 2008

PCB Rev: B

Current firmware: 18 - Date: June 11, 2007

New firmware: 27 - Date: Apr 13, 2012

Alternate firmware: Not present - Date: Not present

When I hit "Update" the whole blue bar runs smoothly but just at the end says something about "verifying failure" and when i hit accept (it's the only option i can click) it says "eeprom programming failure. updating the firmware on the aurora failed".

I only tried in one of the two i have.

I know it took me so long to update (from version 18 to 27th being the new one).
Is that the problem?. Can i do an update to something in between to then update to 27?
Some help will be much appreciate it.
Thank you!

Hi,

We are sorry you are having an issue with the updating.

Are you using a Mac Pro or Macbook?

How are the Auroras connected to the computer?

Is this the Updater you are using?

Thank you

Hi,

I have a Mac Pro and the Auroras are connected with the LT-HD cards to a single HDX card.

And yes, that is the same updater I am using, the only one i could find in the site.

thank you for answering so fast.

Looking forward for further instructions or doubts i can help you with.

Have you tried turning off the Aurora NOT being Updated?

Also, did you try disconnecting the Auroras from the HDX cards while Updating? I am thinking "yes" since you got to the Verification stage, but just wanted to check with you...

Thank you for your replies and troubleshooting.

No, i haven't tried turning off the other interface while updating the first one.

No, i didn't disconnect the Auroras from the HDX cards. I got to the verification stage just waiting for the update to end. The blue bar reaching the end of the updating process and then the message of the Verifying error poped up. I did this twice and was the same both times. But both of the Auroras were on both of the times and connected to the HDX.

Should I try that? Both things? Unplugging from the HDX cards both Auroras and having only the one being updated turned on?

Yes, please try disconnecting both Auroras' DigiLink cables first. To be honest, I am surprised the Updater launched, since PT with HDX locks out the Aurora front panel just by being connected and can block other communication...

Hello, I'm using an older PPC Mac with Mac OS 10.5.4.  When I download and try to run the updater it says that it is not supported on this architecture.

Hi Don. That is correct. The updater includes firmware and support for our LT-USB. Apple native USB driver does not support USB 2.0 until OS 10.6.4, thus the incompatibility.
