Topic: AES 16e 2 x Aurora 16s and Pro Tools 9Posted: April/23/2012 at 7:08am |
|
I am experiencing some strange pro tools issues. Firstly I can only see use one aurora's inputs in pro tools. (up until recently I have only needed 16 so it wasn't an issue) I see all 32 inputs in the setup list but I can only access the first 16 inputs for recording.
Secondly there are some strange conversion problems occurring. I recently recorded a project using 88 instead of 44k. When I convert to 44k 16 bit to print to CD is speeds everything into chip monk mode. Here is my setup. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 2x AES 16e ( digital word clock) 2x Aurora 16's (one is set to internal and the other external) Mac OS 10 Pro tools 9 I have all the lastest drivers and firmware. |

Hi,
It sounds as if your AES16e driver may have been installed as a 32 channel device. In that case, PT will only see the first card since it (PT) is limited to 32 channels. What version driver are you using? Our latest is Build 53 which you can download here. After download, choose "16 channel" as the driver to install. Before installing 53, however, please run our Uninstaller. How are you sample rate converting to 44.1? |

That was it! thanks. I had installed the 32 channel device. I haven't completely solve the issue because I can't get the output to my analog trident console but I haven't spent much time on it.
One thing I haven't been able to figure out is why when i select digital for the sync in the aes16e that it's not changing to the correct clock. Both AES 16e's should be set to digital correct?
As far as the sample rate problem... I started a completely new session in PT with the correct sample rate and then exported without issue. |

Good news, thanks for the update. You're very welcome.
If one Aurora is INTERNAL and is sending a BNC to the 2nd Aurora and that Aurora is set to EXT, then yes, both cards should be set to DIGITAL IN 1. Is RATE LOCK selected for that card? |

Yes rate lock is selected for both cards but they don't seem to be locking.

Those should NOT be checked. They lock down the rate so it cannot be changed...Not to be confused with a clock locking to an incoming rate...
