The Hilo driver has been tested and if it were the driver, all (or at least many) customers would be having similar issues. I stream off the Internet at home with Hilo as well as record with it with no issues, even if I am running video in the DAW as well...
This is an interesting case... |

I had a laptop that did not work well with USB Audio in the same circumstances. The only thing that helped was upgrading the NVidia display adapter drivers. That cleared up the problem and it worked perfectly.
Mike's right, if the problem was just the drivers aren't working right, that certainly doesn't explain all of the machines for which this exact scenario works perfectly. We just have to find the lowest common denominator to figure out what can be done. Have you tried the Hilo with a different computer, as a comparison? |

I know that you were changing your settings in windows to be set at 96khz. Have you tried just setting it to 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz?
I was playing with this around the time I had my problems. |

No my default Windows resoluton is 24bit/44.1khz at Windows Kernel not 96khz, but i do recording at 32bit/96khz at Asio driversbut yes i do change it to 24bit/96khz when i play back my recodings or some other audio which is natavly at 96 khz sample rate but then i switch back to 44.1
p.s.i don't want to change to 16 bit because i won't be able to listen and enjoy to high defenition audio on my computer

chiily, a relatively inexpensive thing that you can try is to buy an aftermarket USB 2.0 card and see if that helps. Just in case something about the chipset and firmware with your motherboard's USB I/O is not playing nice with our USB2 audio chip.

Hello I have a question and also a bug report
so begging with a question, I have Avalon m5 and it's signal is very hot from Avalon m 5, and when I play my guitar and the volume of it is at more then 60% it begin to overload the Hilo line input how ever the strange thing is that acoustically I do not hear any distortion at all. The only thing is that when the signal begin to overload imput the signal stays perfectly the same . By the way line imput set set to 0db. How ever VU Maters are barely moving when I play my guitar on Avalon m5. So what guys would u recommend me, just keep the volume of my guitar at 60 % or maby I can do something? Speaking about bug. I found a bug which will crash Hilo USB connection instantly and here is how. Then turn of all USB chanells exept 5/6 Rout line output to USB Chanel 5/6 Go to ur DAW and turn off all imputs ( Ableton Live in my case)and set just 2 separate mono imputs of 5 and then 6 of USB imputs Then rout imput 5 to left and again imput 5 ( not 6)but to right And u have instant crash of USB drivers. Or and easier way Then turn of all USB chanells exept 5/6 Rout line output to USB Chanel 5/6 Go to Amplitube 3 program Set left imput to 5 And right imput to 5 And u have an instant crash of Hilo USB drivers and Hill becomes completely unresponsive In my computer Edited by chilly - June/02/2012 at 10:21pm |

Where are you seeing the overload? Which meters and set to what source? Have you tried setting the trims on the Line Inputs to +24dBu? Or at least 22? WHat are the Avalon Line Outs calibrated to? Are they in the factory default state for your unit?
From the bug you describe, are you seeing channels 5/6 behaving differently than other channels? Does 7/8 behave differently? What do you mean by turning off the other USB channels? Are you muting the other Play devices in the Output Mix Routing page? |

Hello monkey Hello I do not know what are u tolking about, i have original Avalon m5 with out a Jensen transformer so i do not know how to calibrate them, at list a lost my manual of it but it is not possible to find it online, but i am planing to parchase Jensen transformer in two month which will make line out of m5 to be bulanced but now they are not. Do u mean i have to set trim to 24dBU in Hilo is that safe, i thought that is for balanced connecting, can i dameg m5 if i will do or no because my m5 has unbalansed output right now? Yes all my other usb chanells are muted because for now i need only one stereo chanel which is 5/6 for working in DAW so other channels are muted for the reason i do not use them for now. yes i mute them in Output Mix Routing page but the also are disebled at my DAW. but afcause u can do with any other channels and today i tried to do the same but with 1/2 and others are muted and the same expiriense. but today i have tried with other channels and the same problem. So basicaly i have a mono preamps which is Avalon m5 which i use for guitar. so i conect it to line in left of Hilo. and then i have a two options to make my guitar to be stereo. 1) in Hilo output Mix routing page set line imputs to Mono ( but it is not a good idea because i will sum up a noise of the empty output) 2) in my DAW or any other program rout line ins to for example USB 1/2 and then assigne USB2 to left and USB2 to right and here is comes the problem it it crashes my DAW but in Amplitube 3 it seis "it cannot find you audio device" if i assigne USB1 to left and USB 1 to right awrything works if assisgne USB1 to left and USB2 to right awrything works but it does not work if a assigne USB2 to left and USB2 to right do u underdstand me? sorry for my English again

the Input trims are relative to the maximum level of the sending device. It is not specifically related to balanced or unbalanced operation. The higher the value for the input Trims, the more suited it is for higher level sources. You can experiment, try +18, +20, +22, etc to see which is the best match for your Avalon.
I just looked at this with Live 7.4 (admittedly an old version), but I did not see a way to create a stereo record device that used the same mono input for both channels. When I select a stereo input device, the software grabs adjacent pairs. Perhaps I am missing something or this is not possible in this version. Also, I'm wondering why you wouldn't just record a mono track and then duplicate it, if your desire is a dual mono track with both channels being identical. Am I missing something? |

speaking about the bag evry DAW may have some difference , i think it will be much eseyer to recreate that bug in Amplitude3 Software because it has a very streight foward hardware routing assigment here http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitube/ download it from this page. as i recall it should work for 10 days for free with no limitations. then when u will start this program Standalone the first time it should bring to "Hardware settings page" if not then go to Settings-> AudioMidi setup and here u go assigne: "Left chanell" --- "Hilo USB Record 2" and then "Right chanell" --- " Hilo USB Record 2" and here u go u have a bug..... if I" Left chanell" --- "Hilo USB Record 1" and then "Right chanell" --- " Hilo USB Record 1" it works if I : Left chanell" --- "Hilo USB Record 1" and then "Right chanell" --- " Hilo USB Record 2" it works but it does not work with when: "Left chanell" --- "Hilo USB Record 2" and then "Right chanell" --- " Hilo USB Record 2" Do u undeerstand me? or do u need more explanation? thank u Edited by chilly - June/07/2012 at 2:25pm |
