The firmware update is what fixed the problem with the broken up audio.  The issue with the AES16e was not related solely to the GigaByte motherboards, but with the modern chipsets and power management with Windows 7.
Thank you,

I see.  Thanks.  A couple of questions:

1) Given that the firmware update kept resulting in blue screen crashes, and never seemed to complete properly, can I trust what your firmware utliity is telling me -- that I now have the latest Sept 12 2011 firmware update installed? It's a little unsettling, since, like everybody else, I want a rock-solid system.

2) Accordng to the Lynx software, I am seeing ocassional dropouts using the AES16, though my unscientific testing would suggest they occur mainly when I first start playing audio, as if the system just needs a second to settle down.  Still, I don't recall ever seeing dropouts when using the L22. Any thoughts?

3) Again, this is unscientific, but I'm getting the sense that latency was actually better with my L22 than with the AES16e, which is certainly not what I was expecting.  Busy, plug-in-laden Cubase projects that had been playing back fine through the L22 seem to require a higher buffer setting to work with the AES16e -- and that's when using just a single stereo out of the aes16e (into a single stereo converter).

Any thoughts on this, or general advice on reducing latency?  Again, my motherboard is a Gigabyte P55UD3r, which has served me really well with the Lunx L22 and my three Powercore MKIIs.

Thanks,

Alan
