The Bad Adapter RAM error message means the computer isn't configuring the card properly (since we know the card actually doesn't have Bad RAM since you can use it in the G4).
This has to be a problem with the expansion chassis since that is the unknown variable at this point. Do you have a way of running the expansion chassis on a Windows machine (just to double check)? |

David,
Thanks for your reply. I can run the chassis from Parallels on the Mac. I am not sure if that's the same, but it is worth giving it a try. Do I have to flash the card with any Windows firmware? Or can I leave it as is? Is there any software to install on the Windows side? Thanks! |

The card should already have Windows firmware on it (that is the 'W' in the firmware number).
Parallels isn't going to work since that isn't a real copy of Windows. You would have to do Bootcamp or try it in a PC. |

Hi supporting team,
I have just bought the latest Mac Pro using Mac OS X 10.6. I came across the same situation after installing my Build 49 driver. The OS can recognize my LynxTwo-C card with no audio driver installed. The OS also show that my PCIe to PCI bridge expansion card hardware works well. However, I can't load the LynxTwo Utilities as the OS tells me that it finds no driver. I am greatly eager to acquire the support here. Please help!

I forgot to tell that I installed the driver and tried to load the LynxTwo Utilities in 32bit Kernal MacOS X already but not 64bit. It still fails.
On the other hand, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate in my Mac Pro. Similarly I tried to install the latest Windows driver for my audio card downloaded in Lynx webpage. Before installing any driver, the Devise Management showed an unknown Multimedia Audio Controller. After installing driver, it showed an exclamation mark on the LynxTwo-C devise within Sound, video and game controllers. I could not load the lynxtwo mixer as it showed no installed driver.

Hello,
Do ou know if your Magma chassis has the Pericom clock chip, or Cypress? Pericom still does not work, and the behavior you describe would be normal in this case. Is there a tower computer that you can try installing directly into just to make sure that the LynxTWO is OK? |

Hi! Thanks to your reply and following up.
I have used my LynxTwo in a PC with PCI slots and installed with WinXP for over 8 years. It works normally so far.
Now I am not using Magma chassis in my new Mac Pro. I am using such a PCI-E to PCI adaptor expansion card :
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=7513535626&ali_refid=a3_420520_1007:1102548659:6:pci-e+%D7%AA+pci:a727d0373bb798cfce998c446bef57c2&ali_trackid=1_a727d0373bb798cfce998c446bef57c2 Hope you can click it and find out what I am using for my LynxTwo-C.
The following are the features of this adaptor card in English :
1. 5Gbps @ direction2; support PCI 32bit 33MHz
2. PCI Express 1.0
3. PCI 2.3 standard
4. support PCI slot (3.3V/1A、3.3Vaux/100mA、5V/5A和12V/500m)
5. Powered by 4-pin electric connector (12V or 5V)
The Mac OS X and Windows7 in my Mac Pro can regconize this PCI-E to PCI bridge and show in Device Management. Moreover my Mac OS X can show my sound card, however, with no audio driver installed even if I have installed it.

On the other hand, I can't directly plug my LynxTwo onto this adaptor card. Otherwise, the two ports of my sound card can't show out thoroughly at the back of my MacPro case. As a result, I use the following PCI 32bit extension card to conect my sound card with my adaptor card previously shown to you.
Here are some of its features in English :
1. 32bit 5V 66Hz
2. Designed in high speed, high frequency and high impedance
3. Transfer rate : 66 MB/s
2.

My adaptor expansion card supports both PCI Express 2.0 and 1.0.

You would need to look at the kernel.log to see what the driver won't load. Look for messages starting with ">>> LynxTWO.kExt".
Remember that Build 49 of the driver only supports the 32-bit kernel, so you must be running the 32-bit kernel to even try to load it. |

So far I tried to install and use the driver in the 32-bit kernel but it still fails.
Should I look for messages at the kernel.log after I installed the driver again? I tried twice and failed and hence I uninstalled the driver already. Where is the file kernel.log? Need I search it? Thanks
Kevin

Yes, the driver must be installed and running a 32-bit kernel to see the messages in Console.
Applications > Utilities > Console. |

According to the information in the System Profiler shown, shall you reject the possibility of any bad contact within the connections between cards and slots such that I need to unplug and reconnect again?
IMO, this possibility should be very low.

I would more likely suspect that the adapter in question simply doesn't work properly at speed (for DMA transfers).

According to this link : http://www.uaudio.com/webzine/2005/june/index5.html do we need to set the PCI Latency in a Mac Pro? If we need to set after the driver is successfully installed, how to set it in a Mac Pro?(This question may not be related with my current problems.)

There is no way to change the PCI latency on a Mac Pro. It wouldn't matter for this anyway.
