Hi,
I have an AES16, and I just got the "unable to find LynxTWO Asio Kernel Driver" in Cubase 4.5.2, as well as a high pitched tone coming out of my D/A converter. I have all the latest drivers (L2WDM016.exe) and firmware (L2Update23b.exe). This has been a working setup for about a year. I have tried to uninstall/reinstall the driver per Paul's instructions: ------------------------------ Let's try the following steps to get a clean install: * Go to Device Manager. Right-click the LynxTWO under Sound, Video and Game Controllers and choose "uninstall" * Click Start > Programs > Lynx Studio Technology: Uninstall LynxTWO. If it is not there, skip to the next step * Reboot * When the New Hardware Wizard comes up, put it aside (but don't hit "cancel"). * Download Build 14 of the version 2 driver from: http://www.lynxstudio.com/download.html * Double-click L2WDM014.exe and accept the default directory of C:\Lynx * Run the New Hardware Wizard and install the driver per these instructions: http://www.lynxstudio.com/faq/faql2gsstep3winver2.html * After installation, right-click on C:\Lynx\Lynxapps.inf and choose "install". * In Nuendo, click Devices > Device Setup > VST Audio System and chose ASIO LynxTWO/L22 as the ASIO driver. ----------------- And it didn't help. I tried "reflashing" the card by running L2Update23b.exe, but I got an error message saying I already had the latest V25 firmware. Then I reinstalled XP, Cubase and drivers. That didn't help. The card is listed under device manager, but with an exclamation mark. Windows Media player can't use it either. I also noted the high pitched tone while windows was installing, so it's sending AES/EBU to my converters, but that's it. Any suggestions? I'm thinking hardware failure at this point? Thanks!! Martin |

Martin,
Have you tried a cold boot (turning the computer all the way off)? If that doesn't help, see what happens if you run this firmware updater. www.lynxstudio.com/drivers/l2update20o.exe |

Thanks Paul,
Cold boot also didn't work yesterday; I'll try the firmware updater later tonight and report back. M. |

That fixed it!! Do I keep it at W20? Or can I upgrade to W25 now - I like the increased number of direct monitoring channels.
What do you think caused this?
Thanks!!
M.

You can try going back to rev 25 now. If the problem returns, bump back to 20 until we can work something out for you...

Hi Paul,
I tried W25 and it worked for a while, but ultimately started glitching again after about 10 mins of operation. I reverted back to W20, and it's been ok.
Any suggestions?
Thanks for the help,
M.

OK - you'll need to stick with 20 until we update produce a new firmware updater...

Thanks Paul,
I can probably do that. How many direct monitoring channels do I get in V20? Also, I don't understand why V25 worked for a year and then all of a sudden became incompatible? Thanks, M. |

Hmmm - was there any hardware added to your system? Any significant changes to the OS or other software?
You get 2 DM sources per output with this firmware rev. |

Hi Paul,
There have been zero changes to hardware or software. All of a sudden out of the blue my PC started bluescreening (actually resetting on its own), and I ended up with a 'broken' AES16. I don't understand why V25 all of a sudden became incompatible. This has been a rock solid setup before that.
2DM channels will be a real problem for my studio as I only have two pairs of D/A and rely heavily the AES16's capability to DM multiple inputs to one pair of outputs.
I have another AES16 in another PC that I can swap in to see if it's card specific. Can I just switch cards and not have to reinstall the drivers?
Thanks!!!

Good idea. You would be able to swap cards, and if the New Hardware Wizard comes up, just point it to C:\Lynx as the driver location. No need to run LynxApps.inf again.

Hi Paul,
Well I swapped cards tonight, and have been running V25 for hours without a glitch. It appears something's wrong with the other card; it also has problems synchrolocking.
What do I do from here?
Thanks,
M.

Interesting - OK.
Let's get that one looked at. Just send an email to support@lynxstudio.com and include: Your name Your address Your phone number The card's serial number Purchase date We'll respond back with RMA information. |
