OK - That explains it all then. That is probably one of the very first LynxTWO-B's ever produced way back 5 1/2 years ago. The very first release of firmware didn't support ASIO at all. The very next release did, and very few cards ever shipped with firmware that didn't support ASIO. That card must have been sitting on a shelf for a really long time. That is why no one has ever complained about this problem, because it hasn't existed for over 5 years! Who leaves a $1000 audio card sitting on the shelf for 5 years? OK, I'm done ranting now.
I would expect that you would get much better performance out of the system, but it might take a bit of investigating to figure out why. What other devices are in the system? I know you have the 828MKII, but do you have any other audio devices? How about Powercore or UAD1? |

Incidentally, I am running is a second machine via LAN FX Teleport but I shouldn't think that would cause a problem, if anything it should ease the pain for the Lynx no?

NO! LAN drivers are real pigs on the CPU, but our card should be affected exactly the same way as any other audio card would be. The only difference would be if the LynxTWO was installed in a different slot from the other audio device, and the PCI Latency setting was different - or it was on a different bus, or sharing an interrupt with another high-traffic device.
I suggest running ShowLynx.exe and emailing the result of that program to support@lynxstudio.com. ShowLynx needs a bootable DOS diskette, if you don't have one you can download it from http://www.lynxstudio.com/drivers/DosBoot.exe. You should know that tomorrow is a US holiday, so we will not be checking email or the forum. |

famous???
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() not so famous, me and you are the only ones who have ever seen this file! If the card is not installed properly, could it be that it is not seated correctly in the machine? just a guess. Anyhow I have to give mine back to the store tomorrow and to be honest I am kind of happy to see the back of it. I have never experienced such problems with a piece of gear. Since I have one of the very first (prehistoric) LynxTwo cards ever made, that explains a lot of the issues. However, I will stick with my Motu for now and try out a few other cards at some point. If I can get enough money at some point in time, I would like to try the Aurora 8 perhaps, David could send me one at a greatly reduced price as a goodwill gesture for all the trouble I have gone through? ![]() ![]() It also seems that Lynx is not really known here in Greece and none or very few are sold, that would explain why I was given a 6 year old card to try out. If perhaps you could help me out with a nice half price deal, (even on a used one) I could help by promoting the products here in Greece and maybe get you some exposure and sales. Let me know regards Harry |

Richard, I looked through previous incidents. the issue we had looked at was the Error 10 - Device will not start. A bit different as the card was dead in the water in this state - irrespective of driver model used. Reflashing the firmware brought it back, but I now know that a cold boot would have accomplished the same outcome. Anyway, this is a different situation from what Harry experienced, he had firmware which was from before an ASIO driver was even written for the card. Regards, |

tahitilab, Could we try this sequence to insure that you have a clean driver install? * Go to Device Manager. Right-click the LynxTWO under Sound, Video and Game Controllers and choose "uninstall" * Click Start > Programs > Lynx Studio Technology: Uninstall LynxTWO. If it is not there, skip to the next step * Reboot * When the New Hardware Wizard comes up, put it aside (but don't hit "cancel"). * Download Build 14of the version 2 driver from: http://www.lynxstudio.com/download.html* Double-click L2WDM014.exe and accept the default directory of C:\Lynx * Run the New Hardware Wizard and install the driver per these instructions: http://www.lynxstudio.com/faq/faql2gsstep3winver2.html* After installation, right-click on C:\Lynx\Lynxapps.inf and choose "install". Let me know how it goes. |

Oh - OK. I didn't have that in my notes. Since the driver was not active the app was confused. Thanks for clarifying.

Paul just so you know as I just got a BSOD and 'lost' the Lynx card. The cold boot does NOT in fact accomplish the same outcome....... tried it at least twice..... I did have to reflash the firmware. rsp Edited by zvenx - July/12/2007 at 7:12pm |

OK, i am gonna join this group as well.. Just bought my lynxtwo-c a month ago and never been tested much until now.. I have the newest drivers and firmwares. i was working on a new project when all of a sudden Cubase4 crashed, and it came an ugly noise from the lynx output! Well thats not first time cubase has crashed so i just rebooted the machine. when i was back in i tried to load the lynx mixer, but got an error message. (dont remember exactly what the message was) but it was something like "there is no lynx card in your system". &nbs p; Then i tried to open cubase and an error message saying unable to load lynx asio driver or something. Then i went to device manager to see whats going on, and the lynx card got a "! sign". I then rebooted and everything was back to normal. well at least for ten minutes! then cubase crashed again and the same story, but! now it didnt help to reboot one time.. i had to reboot about 6-7 times before the card would show up as it should! I then worked in cubase with my soundblaster audigycard to see if i experinced any problems. wich i didnt. so i swiched back to lynx and guess what? it crashed after 10-15 min. i tried to unninstall, then reinstall but windows says the card might not work.. and sadly windows got right about that.! So if you guys have a solution for me i would be very thankful! or i will just get my card returned.. but I am not willing to give up my lynx card so easely! Heres is my computer spec: Windows XP Pro Sp2, Cubase 4, Asus 8v deluxe, amd 64x2 dual 4800+. Uad x 3, 4gb kingston memory, 2 x western digital raptor 150gb in raid-0 as my C: disk and 2x western digital 320gb as working disks.

OK - and to resolve did you need to re-flash the firmware, or do a cold boot? Thanks Richard |
