50kent, Could you open the Lynx Mixer and Click: Mixer > About Lynx Mixer. What is the Mixer Version, DLL and SYS versions, and firmware rev? Do you have any other PCI devices in the system? Have you tried a different PCI slot? Standing by... |

Richard - OK, let me run that past Bob when he gets back from vacation. That's a new one, sounds like your firmware is getting corrupted somehow.

In the Lynx Mixer, try clicking Settings > Advanced > Memory Read Multiple = OFF. If that doesn't help, let's see if things change after you flash this firmware rev. Some users with a lot of PCI traffic have reported trouble with the PCI instructions in the newest firmware revs. Let me know how it goes. Regards, |

In my experience; for whatever reason; on all 3 systems with P965 chipsets anyway; that I tried; The UAD's and Lynx's were very picky about slot combinations; on more than one machine I've had you could install the two, but they "stepped" on each other; and things like the driver not seeing the lynx card or vice versa happened alot. Once I found the few magic combinations; everything behaved properly. But when they are "stepping" on each other, the card won't appear; it will have huge performance problems; or will BSOD. I'm pretty sure early on a year or two ago I logged a bunch of calls with paul regarding "dma" type conflicts with the uad. He might be able to help. Now, I thought I had the same problem with the powercore; as it wouldn't see it's driver; but this was something discovered about a year ago; on the pc forum; with cards like the element; many powercore's won't take their settings/see the driver until you do a warm hw reset. for whatever reason; they don't power up all the way; and tend also to hang other cards because of it. But after that warm hw reset; all the cards re-order; and things will work. But; it behaved the same way prior to warm hw reset. Making them all work together... priceless.

I would suggest trying the current FW/Driver first. If you run into any problems you can revert the firmware with the link above. Ultimately the new firmware adds a lot of functionality, and I can run it fine with UAD cards, but there are those who have had problems. Regards, |

Hello, You have a card with a newer EEPROM not supported by the older updater. It only involves an ID string, so doesn't really impact the way the card will function. If this error occured after the update progress bar had completed, then the firmware is actually updated. If you shut the machine off and then turn it back on you should have the desired firmware rev (you can verify from the Lynx Mixer > About Lynx Mixer). The only downside is that next time you flash the firmware you'll be prompted for the serial number. Regards, |

hi! I have now set the Memory Read Multiple to off. Im still having problems. Well it seems like the card doesnt get lost anymore? Everything still freezes, and when i try to reboot cubase, cubase tells me audiorecording is not possible, cause the lynxcard isnt there or something.. i try to manually set cubase to work with lynx but it still says no recording possible and switches back to full duplex driver on my sb audigy. When i reboot windows everything works fine again for another 15min or so.. so at least i dont need to reboot hundred times for the lynx to appear. I will try to flash the firmware tomorrow. |

There are the exact kind of things that happened with me too. It would randomly flip out or not show up at all; warm or cold boots seemed equal. I'd try different slot configurations; especially if you can spread things accross the pci buss's.

Oh, while I'm thinking about it, I did alot of testing with the V1 driver in this situation, because it behaves quite differently. There is alot a use dma option in v1 that can make or break stability. But with it off, there is performance issues. I mean, my situation was real similar, the objective was 2 aes16 2 uad 1 powercore. For the longest time I just took the powercore out, but that was a preferance thing; I wanted more uad cpu, I could take either 1 uad out or the powercore and I could change slots to get it stable. This was all before MRM and such; UAD also made significant changes in the 4.x driver for dmaturboboost or something like that. I am not sure if that option is settable anymore though. And, I'd think that's just a performance thing, not a BSOD, no driver show up thing. Again, I just fussed and fussed with card positioning until things worked at a real basic consistant level. install cards. (reboot so they hop around.) p.s. david also has a delete card entry program posted here that makes it *way* easier to troubleshoot what's going where. then complete that cycle, make sure you reboot twice!

Hmm - was the difference a cold boot? Sometimes that is neccesary when the device disappears so the bus can truly reset.
