So when you test with the Lynx Demo and sinewaveminus16 the levels appear correct through the Lynx Mixer and Aurora software, and yet you hear distortion?

Restore defaults on the Aurora by holding down the SAMPLE RATE button while applying AC power (i.e. plugging in the power cord)

I would like you to set the Aurora TO DIGITAL OUT to "AES IN". Then play the sinewave-16 file in one instance of Lynx Demo, and record it in a different instance of Lynx Demo. Look at both files in an audio editor. Is the recorded file a different level than the source file?

If not, try the same test, but set TO DIGITAL OUT to "Analog In". Connect Aurora Analog Out 1&2 (male XLRs) directly to Aurora Analog In 1&2 (female XLRs). Now, does the recorded file have a different level than the source file?

It is important that we isolate the Aurora for testing this problem.
Result I give on the screenshot:

Reinstalled Windows. Put all software, adjusted. At installation of the AES16 driver there was a lag. The driver established repeatedly. Started. This miracle. Level of a sound became as earlier - higher on 10 dB!!! Not long I rejoiced. After compulsory reset level of a sound became lower on 10 dB. Manipulations with settings in Lynx mixer gave nothing.
Reinstalled Windows. Sound level on former is lower on 10 dB. Established digitization in Lynx mixer on 96. I start the file - plays with normal speed. I change digitization on 192. I reproduce the same file (or any other) - plays with the doubled speed. I change digitization on 48. I reproduce the same file (or any other) - plays with the lowered speed.
Reinstalled Windows. Sound level on former is lower on 10 dB.
Besides. On default settings the system refuses to reproduce any sound files. By pressing the button start-up in the sound editor Audition, Wave Lab... or multimedia player Winamp, AIMP... the timer of reproduction stops on the second second. Or the timer works, and level meters hangs on the second second of reproduction.

The computer and the other equipment works stably.
Earlier I didn't note falling of level of a sound.

It should be noted that falling of AES16 drivers for the last year occurred two or three times.

One more moment. If the Aurora is included, when opening Lynx mixer there is a message:

If so, you should connect them to the Line inputs, using adapters or a different cable set if need me.

If that is not the case, let's look at the consistency of the levels through your system.

First download this sine wave file, and extract it to your desktop

Launch the Lynx Demo app from Start > All Programs > Lynx Studio Technology > Lynx Demo

Restore defaults in the Lynx Mixer, but keep the output levels on your mixer all the way down.

In Lynx Demo set the Play device to AES16e Speakers (or Play 1+2). CLick file and navigate to the desktop and select the sinewaveminue16 wave file

Play the file. Look in the Lynx Mixer Outputs page. Is the level on playback -16?

If so, launch the Aurora Remote software. Are the analog outputs also showing a level of -16

If so, check the mixer inputs and see what levels its showing.
